- SHRS incorporates the existing technology available in SHRS Classrooms to accommodate both in-person and remote instructors and students.
- SHRS Classrooms are scheduled through our own Student Services Team in the SHRS Dean's Office.
- A Virtual PITT Computer Lab and Virtual SHRS Computer Lab is now available to all faculty and students.
- Software previously only available on specific computers in FT 6048 can now be accessed via the web.
- Zoom is available on all SHRS classroom computers at Forbes Tower, Bakery Square, Bridgeside Point and Murdoch Building
- All SHRS classrooms include webcam/mic mounted to a tripod
- Tripod can be moved to view instructor and/or demonstrations but should be close to instructor when lecturing for best audio quality
- Instructors should repeat all questions from onsite attendees, for benefit of remote viewers and allocate time to address remote students/questions
- Many classrooms have multiple Audio/Video devices (microphones, cameras). Please insure you select the appropriate AV device.
- Instructor Sound Reinforcement in SHRS Classrooms
- The following classrooms have presenter voice room amplification
- The handheld and lavalier mics in the following rooms can also be selected as an input source on the PC for Zoom, Teams, etc. You must select the appropriate device from within Zoom

- The handheld and lavalier mics in the following rooms will only work for room sound. They are not connected thru the PC and will not integrate with Zoom.

- The handheld and lavalier mics in the following rooms can also be selected as an input source on the PC for Zoom, Teams, etc. You must select the appropriate device from within Zoom
- Personal Voice Amplifiers are available to sign out from SHRS IT
- You can also sign out a personal voice device from UCTL.
- The following classrooms have presenter voice room amplification
- Instructors should modify their Canvas course to enable Zoom and Panopto add-ins.
- Once Zoom is integrated into Canvas, recordings will automatically be accessible to the Canvas Course for student viewing.
- Use Canvas as the central teaching hub for any instructional implementation
- By uploading all course content on Canvas, you can insure the most equitable experience for all students
- All data, curriculum information and assignment are available online.
- Access all Course instances and Class Calendars
- NOTE: Given the quality of a live classroom video demonstrations, it is recommended that instructors pre-record skill demonstrations and upload to Panopto

Before you arrive to the classroom

- Enable Canvas, Zoom and Panopto Integration options
- Create and schedule all classroom Zoom sessions through Canvas.
- Canvas Support Resources are available through the Help Icon (a question mark) in the left navigation of https://canvas.pitt.edu
When you arrive in the classroom
- Turn on the display system
- Ceiling Data Projector On/Off Console
- Flatscreen TV via Remote Control
- Login to the instructor computer with your PITT username and password
- Do not use your email alias
- Sign into My.pitt.edu portal
- Launch Canvas
- Access Specific Canvas Course Shell/Class Instance
- Scheduled Zoom sessions are available via the Zoom menu option, and/or the Calendar navigation option.
- Starting a Zoom meeting through Canvas – University Center for Teaching and Learning (pitt.edu)
- Sessions scheduled via Canvas, will not automatically sync with your Outlook calendar
- Start today’s ZOOM session (if applicable)
- Test Speaker and Microphone
- Join with Computer Audio
- Use the Mute/Start-Stop Video options to select your microphone and camera
- Start Your Video
- If Recording hasn’t started automatically, Start Recording to the CLOUD
- Enable Screen Share when you want to display your PowerPoint presentation

- Use Canvas' Media tool for quick video or audio posts within announcements or discussion posts. Do not use this tool for recordings over 15 minutes in length.

- Panopto
- Use Panopto when recording audio or video for evergreen content or summative assessment activities. Panopto is an effective tool for serving video content through the web.
