Kelly Smart brings decades of experience to the Physician Assistant Studies Hybrid Program. She began practicing as a physician assistant in family medicine in 2003. She soon transitioned into orthopedic surgery and went on to gain well over a decade of experience in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. After precepting for multiple students and guest lecturing at her alma mater, she decided to make a career move into education. Smart’s journey took the turn to full-time PA education in 2017.
She has experience in many aspects of PA education having worked in didactic and clinical education. She continues to work multiple days per month in an orthopedic urgent care clinic and loves to share her knowledge from patient care with her students. She is heavily involved in volunteering in her community by providing services for the local unhoused population and hospice and nursing home patients.
