Chrisa Kravetz is a clinical speech-language pathologist with 15+ years’ experience. The Pittsburgh Community Aphasia Center (PCAC) is a free community-based center where I provide small group therapy and large group support groups for individuals living with chronic aphasia and Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). It also provides a clinic placement for graduate speech-language pathology students. Aphasia is a language disorder resulting from stroke, brain injury, or brain tumor that results in difficulty with reading, writing, understanding and speaking. The PCAC programming focuses on the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA) therapy with the main objective of allowing patients to participate in community-based activities and re-engage in life activities important to them. The PCAC also assists with building and re-connecting with community while providing opportunities for continued language recovery. This role combines Kravetz's two passions, teaching students and working with individuals with aphasia.
