John Pierce serves as Assistant Professor for the Emergency Medicine program and as Associate Director for the Office of Education at the Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania. Pierce has been providing pre-hospital patient care continuously for 30 years, 26 of which at the Advanced Life Support level. He has experience as service manager, fire fighter, deputy coroner and administrator and in various capacities as educator and mentor delivering NAEMT, AHA, CCEMPT, VFIS, ASLS and DoT EMS curriculum at the EMT, Paramedic, and Critical Care level. Pierce is active as an advocate of EMS at the local, state and federal levels with a focus on leadership, management, education and development. Pierce also contributed to the National EMS Managers Association's National EMS Officer Competencies document.
