Dr. McNeil retired from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018, following a 5-year clinical career in the Veterans Administration, a 40-year academic career 25 of which he served as CSD Department chair of at-Pitt, with intermediate appointments at the University of Colorado and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He held continuous affiliations within various research units within the Veterans Administration. Dr. McNeil's research and teaching were concentrated in neurogenic speech and language disorders with a focus on aphasia and apraxia of speech. He gratefully acknowledges his many collaborators and the 31 Thesis and 22 Dissertation students that he had the pleasure of directing. He continues a semi-active research agenda with work on computerized aphasia test development.
