Lea Sayce

Lea Sayce is a research assistant professor in the Department of Communication Science and Disorders. Her professional interests encompass the molecular biology underlying healthy and pathophysiologic voice. Using a combination of basic science, surgical, and computational approaches she investigates mechanisms underpinning vocal fold injury and repair, evaluates safety and efficacy of existing treatment modalities, and develops novel technologies for improving medicinal and surgical outcomes. Additionally, Sayce leads independent studies at the undergraduate and graduate level, and serves as a member of University of Pittsburgh’s Basic Science Advisory Council.
