The Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program, which originated as the Doctor of PA Studies (DPAS), is specifically for PAs and housed in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. It is a post-professional degree program during which learners achieve competence in the domains of Practice-Based Learning and Quality Improvement. It is designed to enhance career opportunities for practicing PAs.

About the Program

The DMSc program coursework, based on the competencies for the PA Profession, consists of online courses that culminate in a Scholarly Practice Capstone Project and defense. The DMSc program allows PAs to pursue a doctorate after completion of their master’s degree while remaining in their place of practice.
