Biography

Carlos Gutiérrez started as adjunct faculty in the Physician Assistant Studies Hybrid Program in 2021 and is adjunct faculty for the Doctor of Education in Health Professions program at A.T. Still University.

In this role as vice chair, he will support learners of all programs as well as direct faculty development activities related to this area. He has a vested interest in assuring student success and student wellness. His academic specializations include adult learning, instructional techniques, curriculum design and evaluation and qualitative research.

Since 2015, Gutierrez has been practicing family medicine with a focus on LGBTQIA+ health serving a mostly Spanish-speaking, minoritized community in west Phoenix, Arizona. He previously worked at Mayo Clinic specializing in PreOperative Medicine. Currently, he is the chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee at the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistant and has a passion to promote diversity in the Physician Assistant profession.
