Kimberly Peterson has worked extensively in leadership roles in various health information management (HIM) departments in the health care environment for the past 25 years. She also was the HIPAA privacy officer in several health care settings and has consulted on HIM principles in health care settings both nationally and internationally. Her dissertation research involved creating a quality-of-life scale to measure trauma levels, health and wellbeing in socioeconomically challenged communities. She has held leadership roles in the local HIM association and is active in the state and national HIM association.
