Biography

Eric Meyer is a licensed clinician, educator, clinical supervisor and scholar. The goal of his research is to improve long-term functioning and quality of life in people living with a range of mental and physical health challenges. Much of this work has been done with military, veteran, and emergency responder populations. He also focused on those recovering from stroke and traumatic brain injury and those living with chronic pain.  

His work has been funded by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, and the State of Texas, and he has collaborated on numerous other federally funded projects.  

Meyer is an active clinician and clinical supervisor. His research ideas have always flowed from his clinical experience. He started out as an expert in PTSD but now focuses on helping people overcome the psychological barriers to functional recovery and to living a life of meaning and purpose that stem from a broader array of mental and physical health challenges. He has benefited from having several outstanding mentors, teachers and supervisors whose influence he seeks to emulate with his own students. He created opportunities for student involvement through his scholarship and service projects.
