Biography

At the Speech Neural Systems Lab, Alex Ocampo works with Jason Bohland to develop tasks to engage our undergraduate researchers, test new methods for analysis and maintain the organization of our lab’s data. The primary goal is to explore various software, pipelines and metrics, and consider how those things may offer a new perspective on our speech and behavioral data. Some projects Ocampo has worked on include speech error detection, working vowel space estimation and reaction time calculation.

Before working here full-time, Ocampo was an undergraduate research assistant at the SNS Lab. He enjoys that working at SHRS has allowed him to continue expanding his knowledge and skills as he engages with the various steps of the research process. Ocampo intends to someday pursue a PhD, so working within the CSD community has enriched his understanding of the research process and the curiosity of a life of science.
