Biography

Agus Setiawan’s research focuses on developing digital health solutions for individuals with chronic conditions and disabilities, examining their usability, feasibility and implementation in clinical settings. He designs, develops and implements these solutions, leads research projects and collaborates with health care professionals to ensure effective integration into clinical practice. He also manages a development team, overseeing software design, deployment and project management. 

With nearly two decades of IT experience, Setiawan specialized in software development and project management before transitioning to health informatics a decade ago. His focus has been on creating innovative digital interventions, such as adaptable mHealth apps and personal health record (PHR) systems. He joined the Department of Health Informatics as a research scientist to advance rehabilitation science through innovative informatics solutions. 

What he enjoys most about working at SHRS is the opportunity to merge technology with health care, enhancing self-management and care coordination for patients. He is committed to bridging the gap between research and practical applications, contributing to various interdisciplinary initiatives at Pitt to advance our shared goals in digital health innovation.
