Physician Assistants Advancing Diversity (PAAD) is an opportunity for students at any Pitt campus to better understand the PA profession. We acknowledge that many undergraduate students are not aware of the Physician Assistant/Associate (PA) profession and/or are unsure of what it takes to get there, we are launching an immersive experience of all things PA!

PAAD is provided by the University of Pittsburgh Physician Assistant Studies Program in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).

This is a week-long, all-expense paid experience in May. This opportunity is open to all current University of Pittsburgh students actively enrolled at ANY Pitt campus. While all expenses are included you are responsible for transportation to campus in Oakland on Sunday, by 5 p.m. and from campus at the conclusion of the week on Friday by 1 p.m. (arrival and dismissal times subject to change). This is inclusive of lodging, meals and transportation (if needed) to and from shadowing sessions.

Activities and experiences will include:

  • PA classroom opportunities at the Murdoch Building on Pitt’s Oakland campus
  • faculty teaching and discussions
  • cadaver lab learning
  • coaching for the PA application process, and
  • hours of PA clinical shadowing.

Seating is limited and will be offered to students selected by faculty after review of their application.
