Dean Anthony Delitto will lead the new University of Pittsburgh Center for Excellence in Digital Education, or Pitt EDGE. This centralized unit will be entirely devoted to the development, advancement and promotion of Pitt's educational efforts in the digital space.
The dedicated center will lend powerful support to the planning and implementation of the University’s online and continuing education programming across its campuses. Pitt EDGE will provide a mix of centralized services while also engaging with teams within schools already working to advance Pitt’s digital presence and reach new students nationally and internationally.
Delitto's additional role will be as associate provost for Digital Education, effective Oct. 1.
In a message to his faculty and staff he stated, "One of my proudest accomplishments as dean of SHRS is working with you to grow our school’s online and hybrid programs to meet the needs of an evolving prospective student audience and improving enrollment amid increasing declines in higher education."
Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor Joe McCarthy said in the announcement, “Tony and his team in SHRS have done truly pioneering and transformative work in online education for his school—specifically in its top-ranked Doctor of Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies hybrid programs, in addition to five other online programs. He is uniquely positioned to guide us as we envision Pitt EDGE as we look to launch at least five new online/hybrid programs over the next five years.”
This announcement was made on September 24, 2024.
