Academic Outreach and Advising

About

Academic Outreach and Advising within the Dean’s Office is focused on building strategic partnerships across the University to enhance the visibility of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) as an academic destination for undergraduate students at Pitt. This area is also dedicated to enriching the student experience at SHRS by optimizing academic advising and supporting student success by offering a range of resources designed to elevate the academic experience for all learners.

Admissions

About

The Admissions team within the Office of Student Affairs is instrumental in coordinating the admissions process for undergraduate and graduate programs within SHRS. The team helps with application data and administration, admissions provisions, international admissions, pre-requisite evaluations, evaluation of transfer course credits and sending decision letters.

Business and Finance

About

The Business and Finance team is housed within the SHRS Dean’s Office. The team is responsible for the day-to-day management and long-term planning of the school’s finance and business operations. This includes support for:

  • Financial modeling and reporting
  • Budget preparation and management
  • Program proposals and pro formas
  • HR personnel and management to include recruitment, hiring, payroll, promotions, performance management and staff development
  • Facilities, security, parking
  • Clinical contracts managements
  • Information technology

The Business and Finance team collaborates closely with all Office of the Dean areas as well as each of our departments.

The Center for Academic Advising and Student Success in Student Affairs is intended to empower students through guidance, advisement, mentorship and collaboration to become engaged and responsible members of their professions, their communities and society.

Center for Interprofessional Studies

The Center for Interprofessional Studies’ mission is to design, facilitate, support and evaluate SHRS interprofessional education that translates into improved individual and population health outcomes. The office’s vision is that all SHRS students and alumni are prepared to collaborate across professions to improve population and individual health outcomes through high quality team-based care.

Clinical Partnerships

About

The Clinical Partnerships team connects adjunct faculty members to provide clinical education experiences and assist in didactic education for SHRS students.

Commercial Translation

About

This office focuses on increasing and reinforcing our school’s already high level of commercial translation by working closely with investigators and external partners to support licensing and funding opportunities to complement our efforts in research and innovation.

Online Learning

About

The Office of Online Learning (OOL) supports SHRS departments in the development of fully online or hybrid programs or certificates. Our online education professionals provide consultation throughout the design process from proposal to launch, applying best practices for online learning. OOL also facilitates SHRS’ Continuing Education initiatives.

Philanthropic and Alumni Engagement

About

The SHRS Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) team cultivates relationships with contributors, alumni and other constituents on behalf of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC, generating support for teaching, research and care.

Registrar

About

The Registrar team within the Office of Student Affairs is responsible for providing letters of verification of enrollment, graduation, good standing, etc. They also manage the graduation of students and coordinate SHRS Recognition Day ceremonies.

Research

About

The SHRS Research team is responsible for oversight of the school’s research capacity building, funding and operations. This includes support for:

  • School-wide research infrastructure, including the SHRS Data Center and the SHRS Rehabilitation Data Mart (ReDWINE)
  • Research collaborations within and outside SHRS
  • Pre-award administration tasks, such as proposal development and submission, progress reporting and budget development
  • Post-award administration, including accounting, effort certification, prior approval requests and award closeout
  • Resources and consultation related to investigator development, laboratory operations and research program enhancement

SHRS Research uses a team approach that supports cross-training, professional development and mentoring among members within the team.

Technology Support Services

About

Technology Support Services is the point of contact for information technology solutions at SHRS. They provide support for students, faculty and staff in the areas of academic computing, administrative systems, development services and support solutions.
