Students complete a 100-hour practicum and a 600-hour internship for their clinical experience during the program.

The Counseling program meets the educational requirements for licensure in Pennsylvania and many additional states. Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the National Counselor Examination/National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination to become a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Please check with your state’s licensing body for more information on the education requirements of that state.

Accreditation

The Pitt Counseling Program has been accredited since 2004. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program is currently accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) through March 2032.
