ASHA Requirements
To be eligible for clinical certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association you must meet the standards specified by the Association’s Council for Clinical Certification. This includes satisfactory completion of at least one three-credit course in each of the following areas prior to starting the graduate program:
NOTE: The GRE is no longer required.
Applicants are required to provide transcripts from all U.S. universities, colleges or other higher education institutions attended.
Admitted students will need to submit official transcripts to the SHRS Admissions Office prior to enrolling in classes.
The department requires that students complete at least 15 hours of observation of speech/language pathology, before participating in Clinical Practicum Placements.
Students who have not completed the observation requirement will begin clinical education with an observation schedule.

Transcripts should be received by CSDCAS by December 15 to allow ample time for CSDCAS to verify the transcripts. Your application and all required documentation should be verified by CSDCAS by January 15. Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended to CSDCAS.

The University of Pittsburgh accepts the official results of the Duolingo English Test, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as a measure of English language proficiency.
