Uncommon in most undergraduate programs, Pitt Emergency Medicine students gain valuable hands-on instruction and experience through numerous clinical placements in EMS agencies and world-renowned health care institutions. You’ll be ready to become a paramedic after your junior year. After earning your degree, pursue your EMS career goals or apply to graduate health care programs such as physician assistant studies. If you are already a paramedic, first responder or advanced tactical paramedic, complete your bachelor’s degree in as little as two terms with 100% online, asynchronous coursework in our Degree Completion program.

Applied Skills

Junior Entry
Students complete a minimum of 544 hours in over 70 clinical rotations and an average of 24 hours per week of clinical and field exposure.

Degree Completion
The senior internship is set in a health care area of interest and may be completed domestically or internationally. Critical care clinical experiences and independent study opportunities are also available on the Pittsburgh campus.
