Biography

In 2022, with the support of the Athletic Department, Rick Joreitz developed the University of Pittsburgh Division I Sports Physical Therapy Fellowship program. Joretitz’s involvements outside of the classroom provide valuable experiences to the students he teaches. He is passionate about linking clinical application to the material being taught in the classroom. He provides physical therapy services to student-athletes as a member of the Sports Medicine Team within the Pitt Athletic Department. Joreitz also serves as the Team Physical Therapist for the Pitt Football program and is a Clinical Instructor to Pitt’s Doctor of Physical Therapy students each football season.   

Prior to joining the Department of Physical Therapy in 2019, Joreitz worked as a Physical Therapist for the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute for 11 years and was the team Physical Therapist for the Pittsburgh Penguins, including the 2016 and 2017 Stanley Cup Championship seasons.
