Kathryn Reed transitioned to full-time academia in 2021 after practicing clinically and precepting students for four years in family medicine and internal medicine in Pittsburgh. Reed is the Faculty Advisor for the SHRS Affinity Groups student organization and leads both the Future Health Care Provider Outreach Program (FHCPOP) and the Multi-Cultural Pre-Health Panel Series – two programs that were created alongside student leaders in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies.
Reed is passionate about acknowledging the humanity of her students, peers and patients – specifically by validating their lived experiences and creating safe spaces for learning and receiving care. She envisions a future where everyone has access to high-quality, patient-centered and culturally responsive care to achieve health equity.
