Biography

Hayden Mulligan fully committed herself to the ideal that “education is the only lasting resource” during her Peace Corps service in Peru, where she served as a health promotion volunteer for two years. She found her way to Physician Assistant (PA) school after completing her service and knew that PA education was the path for her.  She worked in primary care in rural areas of North Carolina while she gained experience, and then found her place at the University of Pittsburgh’s Hybrid PA program.  Initially serving as clinical faculty and adjunct faculty, she now works fully in the didactic space.  She enjoys the challenge of breaking down complex topics into digestible pieces and finds true fulfillment in knowledge acquisition and growth in her students.

She is passionate about holistic education, meeting students where they are and helping to cultivate knowledge as well as the professional, interpersonal and emotional skills they need to be successful and healthy providers that provide thoughtful, thorough, equitable and evidence-based care.

Mulligan continues to work a day a week at Duke Primary Care and is the course director for PreCEPT which is an innovative CME learning platform for clinical preceptors.
